Mission Statement:

At James Avant Elementary School, our mission is to cultivate a secure and nurturing learning atmosphere for every student. We are dedicated to delivering a challenging and diverse core curriculum in each classroom, ensuring a foundation for academic success.

Vision Statement:

Our vision at James Avant Elementary School is to establish a learning environment that sets high expectations for achievement, college and career readiness, and the development of responsible citizens.

Dear James Avant Elementary School Community,

I am pleased to outline our school-wide goals, reflecting our collective commitment to academic achievement, attendance, and the overall well-being of our students and staff.

Academic Goals:

NWEA Math and ELA Goals:

  • Math Winter Goal: Achieve a proficiency rate of 60%.
  • ELA Winter Goal: Attain a proficiency rate of 55%.
  • Spring Target: Reach an impressive proficiency rate of 80%.

IAR Goals:

  • Math: Aim for a proficiency rate of 36%.
  • ELA: Strive for a proficiency rate of 38%.

Attendance Goals:

We understand the critical role attendance plays in student success, and our goal is to ensure a conducive learning environment for all:

  • Overall Attendance Goal: Maintain a minimum attendance rate of 95% for both students and staff.
  • Absentee Rate: Keep the absentee rate below 30%.

Health and Safety Goals:

The well-being of our school community is of utmost importance, and we are dedicated to maintaining a healthy and safe environment:

  • Health Compliance: Achieve and sustain 100% compliance with health guidelines and protocols.
  • Suspension Rate: Aim for a suspension rate of 1% or less, promoting a positive and supportive school culture.
